Nissan X-Trail T32 buying guide
2014 to 2022. A T32 suits a family that wants a roomy SUV with an optional third row and checks the CVT history.
Big jobs
- CVT judder and slow engagement. The CVT can be slow to select Reverse or Drive and judder at low speed and light throttle. Dealers checked for belt slip and wear and some flushed the CVT cooler.
Workshop jobs
- Underbody damage on AWD models. Many are AWD, and underbody damage from rough use is worth checking.
Small jobs
- Fuel pressure sensor recall. Cars built in 2014 may have a fuel pressure sensor that was not properly attached and could leak fuel under the bonnet.
- Tailgate gas struts recall. Cars built 2014 to 2016 may have tailgate struts without proper rust proofing that could fail.
- Electrical faults. Owners report intermittent parking sensors, infotainment glitches that a software update sometimes fixes, and powered tailgate faults.
- Interior trim. Some plastics are built to a price, and hard family use leaves the cabin tatty quickly.
Questions for the seller
- Is it the 2.0 or 2.5 petrol, and 2WD or AWD?
- Is there a full service history including the CVT?
- Have the fuel pressure sensor and tailgate strut recalls been done?
- Is it the 5 or 7 seat version?
